Our Group Purpose of “We aspire to create a better world by harnessing the power of financial markets” embodies our Founder’s Principles, which have been passed down over the past century. ～Outline～ In 1872, Nomura Tokushichi Shoten opens as a moneychanger. Nomura’s founder Tokushichi Nomura II took over his father Tokushichi Nomura I’s business, established a Research Department and focused on providing information to clients. After visiting Europe and the United States, Tokushichi II established Osaka Nomura Bank, launching a securities department within the bank. In 1925, the securities department became a separate organization and Nomura Securities was born. This is how Nomura was founded.
